Boo-hoo-hoo...

Every year I dream of Darling Daughter begging to be a Princess... Every year she wants to be something like a Vampire Bat
(oh, those eyebrows KILL ME!)
or a Pirate...
Yes, that is a glittered eye patch- duh!!
Thankfully she does let me glam it up a bit with PINK and GLITTER!!  I'll get some pictures later today at the school party!
I shouldn't complain TOO much... I did get ONE Princess out of her when she was 3!
Oh my gosh, I know she's my own child, but is she stinkin' ADORABLE or what????  Eeek, I miss those days!
(My mom made the outfit, I bought the fabric & pattern because I THINK I can sew...I can't!).
I think everyone's seen this picture by now, but it was our muse for the pumpkin we did for Darlings school.

I'll get pictures with my "little" camera today.  I took pictures with BIG MAMA

and still don't know how to make them smaller so they don't take 9 years to download...
Ok, I've got a few loose ends to tie up before I head over to Darlings party (shocking, I know!).  I'm still sick, I really hope I have a lot of downtime this weekend so I'm ready to go next week!!
WASH YOUR HANDS and have a GREAT Halloweenie!

Yikes!!! Did you see me just blow by?

Good Grief the wind here in Michigan is beyond blustery today!! I'm quickly typing before my Internet signal goes out like my TV keeps doing...
Friday night we went to our friends Pumpkin Carving Party:
You know how I ONLY like to take the most flattering pictures of myself to leave behind for generations to come!
Yes, that is my real hand, not a claw!!
Please note my Super-Star pumpkin before it was dropped and smashed into a million pieces...
Ok, I'm going to go lay down, I've been sicker than a dog ever since Friday night.  I wasn't my usual social butterfly self at this party and by midnight the sore throat had kicked in and I've been down ever since!
Off to use the netty pot, take some airborne...
Obsessive Hand-washing is NOW in Effect!!!
**final countdown for hat donation**
Please feel free to still send hats, I need them by Oct 31st, but IF you're sending a hat (or hats) and are afraid they won't be here ON the 31st just email me and let me know they're on their way!!

I AM a runner!!

So, I said I was going to start running again and I have!!  I still really have to MAKE myself get out there, especially since it's so stinkin' COLD!  Don't you love when you say you're going to do something and you stick to it?  It feels good to tough it out and seeing as how I'm 1/4" from being 5', this is the only thing I'll really ever be tough about!!
Here is my "MUST HAVE" list when running, 'cause I know you wanted to know...
hat, fingerless gloves, ipod nano, pepper spray (for the *#&%# dogs that people leave out while they go to work) and a fleece band to go over my mouth- that cold air does a number on your lungs!!!
Yes, all in pink!!
and...
just got this yesterday and let me tell you.... it is SOOOOOOOO much better than sticking your nano in your running bra!
Anything you've done lately that you've been saying for a while you're going to do??
and...

Channeling Ms. Martha Stewart!

You know that "one Mom" at school... the one with the perfect hair (that you know cost $180), the perfect outfit EVERY time, She's drives the best SUV, carries the best purses, and ALWAYS has the cutest shoes?  PLUS: she plans the perfect birthday parties, brings in the cutest treats and has a
fabulously dressed genius kid?  Well, that would be ME!...
In my DREAMS (just kidding)!
Ok, the fabulously dressed genius kid I have, but the rest... that's just too exhausting to even think about.  I have no desire for that.  I'm the mom with the '93 Volvo wagon, the SuperCuts haircut for $7.99, cute TJ Maxx outfits and an ok purse that I've probably left somewhere... but that's OK!  Cause I can make a MEAN poster for my fabulously dressed genius kids class!!
Ok, I have to say, I did NOT cut these by hand...I used my cricut!
Ahhh, the wonders of this machine!!!  I think EVERYONE should have one!! I'd love to say provocraft has given me one to give-away... but they haven't :( Boo!
This can do so MANY things and even if you think you're aren't real "crafty" or "artsy", this thing makes you look GENIUS!!
Love that Mummy!!
Ok, I'm done bragging!
and please don't forget... The Baby/Kid Hat Drive
IF IF IF I should expect 1 (or more) hats from you would you kindly drop me a note at:
chinamommy_04@yahoo.com and let me know, I would really appreciate it!  I'm thinking of making this an annual event, so if you miss this year, don't sweat it!

Do I need My Hormones Replaced?

Are those HRC (Hormone Replacement Center) places everywhere, or is it just a Michigan thing?  Everyday in the background (on the TV) I hear of the wonderful benefits of this place: I could want more sex, I could drop weight, My energy level could go through the roof and my wool rugs would quit shedding!!  Good grief, is this something I need to know about?  Is something coming down the road for me that I'm unaware of?  Geesh, something else my Mother hasn't warned me about!!  Just like she never told me to pluck my eyebrows and I had eyebrows like this... Oh, you know I LOVE any excuse to use this photo!
NO LIE- as I'm typing this, that HRC commercial came back on and I kid you not, they have a couple on there saying how after HRC they're like a couple in their 20's and the husband said "we had literally run out of gas and we got GAS BACK UP" hahahahaha!!!!  Oh, I couldn't make stuff like that up!  The look on his wife's face is PRICELESS!  He looks like he just got done having sex and smoking a doobie and she has this embarrassed/happy smile on her face.
OK, that commercial is on for the THIRD TIME!!  This old lady is telling us how after she got her hormones replaces, she SHAMPOOED HER CARPETS... Does it get any better than this?  I hope you're enjoying this as much as I am...
I gotta go, I need to get in the shower and get over to HRC!
Back tomorrow with some good stuff going on in the art room and trust me, there is ONLY art going on in that room!!!

A North/West Michigan Adventure by mistake...

This Mister and I just celebrated our wedding anniversary on Oct. 10th.
This past weekend the 2 of us headed up north along with 9,426 other people.
Our 1st stop was an antique store about an hour north of where we live.  They were having 40% off everything, don't ya know they didn't have a darn thing I wanted.  Well, except a crochet book that showed how to make a granny square tie!!  There wasn't a price and if there isn't a price, I generally walk away!  The most interesting thing in the store was an old man with no teeth. He was telling the Mister and I how he drove the whole way there on back roads behind some bike riders.  He said the ride was slow, but he wasn't in a hurry... or that was the gist of what we got from the story.  No teeth gives you a strange "accent".

At another shop I saw an orange and black dress I've been dreaming of ever since I left that town, I might see about going back up there and getting it... When we stopped at this particular shop the lady says to me (after finding out we weren't from there ): "So, are you here to look at the leaves?" I replied "No, we have leaves at our house too."  I guess heading north to be a leaf looker is pretty common in Oct!
From there we hit every little town and antique shop we came across.  We finally saw something we're always on the hunt for: an antique gumball machine!
The yellow one we found this past summer and the red one is "new".
I'm still working on a little faux gumball craft...
sneak peak
(NO, the Mister is not thrilled with the amount of glue and paint on these counter-tops...)
So anyway... We were headed to Traverse City.  If you haven't been to the north west part of Michigan, you REALLY should plan a trip! Adorable boutiques, antique shops galore, orchards, fruit stands, artist studios...and gorgeous scenery!!
We got into Traverse City in the evening and this town was HOPPIN!  9,426 leaf lookers swarmin' the city!  We shopped a bit and got dinner and then headed out to grab a hotel room.  Any idea what 9,426 leaf lookers means in terms of a hotel room.... The Mister and I were playing it by ear, which we learned is NOT the best idea sometimes.  Every room in the entire city was BOOKED solid, so we headed farther north...
Next stop: Acme, MI=no rooms
Yuba, MI=no rooms
Elk Rapids, Torch Lake, East Port=NO ROOMS!
Onto Charlevoix, Bay Shore, Petosky, Conway and Oden, MI=NO ROOMS!
Finally a nice man at our last stop called George in Alanson, MI and they had 2 rooms left at their HUGE log cabin resort!  He gave the Mister the price and he said "I don't care what it costs, here's my credit card # and we'll be there as quick as we can!"
If you'd like to follow along see the map below!
Our shopping started in Whitehall and we ended up 25 miles south of the Mackinaw BRIDGE!!
What a long strange trip it's been, but it was GREAT!  No appointments, no place to be at a certain time, no plans... it was just relaxing and shopping!  It has also inspired me to fill my etsy store and sell $80,000 this month so I can go back and buy all the gorgeous clothes I found in one of the shops!!  But look what the Mister got me....
Hello PINK RUBBER BOOTS IN A SIZE 5!!!!  Truly Magical!!
Happy Tuesday friends!

10 things to be HAPPY about!!

Is it just me or has this week been a little bit "ugh" for anyone else?  I started this blog post by bitching about everything that is sucking the life out of me this week (photoshop, computers, technology), but then thought WHY in the world would ANYONE want to read that, I mean, seriously, I have WAY too much to be happy about!!!
Here's a list of 10 things I'm happy about today!!
1. Twinkie Chan's crochet pattern book is coming MY way once it's released next month!
CAN'T wait!!
2. Body wash that smells like vanilla cupcakes for $3.99!
I grabbed the body wash, the body creme, AND the body mist... when I walked into Darlings school last week a little boy kept yelling "I smell marshmallows, I smell marshmallows", so I buried his face into my armpit and yelled "it's vanilla cupcake you DORK!"
3. I'm running again and I feel GREAT!  I know it sucks to get going but when it's over I am ALWAYS glad i did it!!
4. I have this GREAT little girl in my life!
I can't imagine my life without my daughter, it's amazing how you don't know what you're missing till you have it!

5. I just (Oct 10th) celebrated 2 wonderful years with my Mr.
(picture from his surprise 50th, 2 years ago!)
6. This store, does anyone else ❤LOVE❤ this place?

7. need I say more...
GLITTER!
8. MY FRIENDS
too many to list, you know who you are!
real life friends, online friends, bloggy friends, facebook friends....

9. etsy and all the WONDERFUL artists out there.  Eye candy galore!!

10.  The fact I don't have to work in a mine!
Congratulations to everyone coming back to the top safely!!
What is making you happy today?
