10 Random Things Friday...

Eek, I'm not sure I'm into my summer schedule yet... This is only the 1st week so I'll cut myself some slack!

1. I am in love with this ring!!  You all know I love me some quirky, whimsical art... If only the Mister would have seen this when he was ring shoppin'

2. We are 5 days into Summer Vacation- on Monday I ran around the lake with Darling riding her bike beside me (that was a challenge), Tuesday we drove into town so I could run on the trail while Darling rode her bike beside me (that was still a challenge but without the cars driving by), Wednesday we went to a friends and yesterday we shopped all day.

 5. I have a problem, actually 2... first: I have a embroidery/sewing machine that cost as much as a small KIA car, second: I THINK I can sew, I can't and yet... I bought this book yesterday.

7. Squinkies are taking over my home.  No, this isn't all of them...

 8. Apparently "Color Changing" fingernail polish is "very drippy", so drippy in fact, that as soon as your 7 year old opens it, she'll drip the turquoise goodness on  your (soon-to-be-replaced) carpet- She got lucky, this time!!

9. My BEST summer find (so far): $1 ELF lip gloss!!  Found these at Target and for $1 each, they're perfect to throw in your purse, glove box, bathroom, pockets, and junk drawers!! I lose lip gloss like crazy, I just don't feel as bad when they're only $1, plus I don't lose $1 lip gloss, I lose the $10 ones!

10. Even though it's heating up outside, don't forget about my 2nd Annual Hat drive for the kids in China!!  Please see the above tab for ALL the information.  But... I'm taking hats now and will until mid Sept.  The one change I'm making this year: I'm asking that you send .50-$1 per hat to help offset the shipping to China!  BUT: if you CAN'T send the $ still send the hat!!! or if you can't send a hat, feel free to send the $- we're easy around here!!

Welcome Summer Vacation!!

What I wore to take the dog potty (cause i do fancy stuff like that in the morning):

 We're on STAY-CATION over here... So here's a little tour of my yard....

Ugh, the Fuchsia just isn't cut out for the sun I have on my porch....

Are you a flower freak? Perennials? Annuals?  Must have flowers? Porch Pots?

We tore out most of our landscaping 2 years ago (in the front of our home), we have about 5 more shrubs to take out this year but the thought doing an entire landscaping re-do on my own.... YIKES! I think we all remember the plaster disaster and the living room re-do...

10 Random Things Friday...

1. The Mister and I at a golf outing Tuesday

See all my teeth?  Good!

2.  Every year we put out our hummingbird feed and every year we have Hummingbirds!!

 Doesn't this one look like maybe she's going to lay some eggs?  She looks kinda chunky to me?

1 C sugar to 4 C water- store it in your fridge and add a little bit at a time!

9.  I got an idea this week and had to have a doll mold.  This might be for candy, I'm not sure but I don't think I want to eat a baby on a stick?!

 10. Today is my little sweetie's last day of 2nd grade...SO hard to believe!  This was last year, her last day of 1st grade...  She is SO excited to be a 3rd grader- Me?!, not so much!!

Welcome to Lake Michigan!

Oh..... the things you'll see at the beach!!  Darling is a water baby and LOVES the beach!  We don't live too far from Lake Michigan and the weather was nice last Saturday so we headed over to this GREAT little town, Grand Haven.  Can you believe the temperature was about 20 degrees cooler on the water?

Guess who wished she'd brought her snow pants!?

 1st off save the comments, I am in NO way making fun (ok, a little) of this gal or commenting on her weight, she was actually quite darling, but....or should I say BUTT?!  If you butt is trying to eat your swimsuit, just get the next size up... it's ok, really!!

 After Tiger-booty got done throwing the football around with her boyfriend, they got down to BUSINESS.... and by "business" I mean: digging a GIANT hole.  I told the Mister they must have seen Darling and how cute she is and they were digging their way to China to get their own little sweetie!!  They borrowed someones shovel and frisbee and dug as if their life depended on it....

 and that was the last we saw of those 2....but their hole lives on!

 I also saw a lady walking a giant blue parrot down the beach.  I don't know, is that weird only to me?  Next time I'm taking my goldfish, Goldie, in a zip loc baggie-she LOVES the water!

and Yes, I do have a great zoom on my camera!  Gotta go, the National Enquirer is calling, I promised them a close up of the Sperm-a-nator and his love child....

10 Random Things Friday...

Holy COW, did Friday get here as fast for you as it did for me?

1. Yesterday I went on a field trip with Darling and her class.  We went to Frederik Meijer Gardens which is one of the most gorgeous places you'll ever see in Michigan.  It's a large conservatory, outdoor gardens, sculpture park, and one of the largest children's gardens in the country.

2. Started my 1st hat for my 2nd Annual Baby/Kid Hat Drive- See more information in the tab above and feel free to spread the word!!

3. What my kiddo does INSTEAD of getting dressed for school in the morning: making a TP fort for her littlest pet shop animals.

4. Keeps me up till 12:30 every morning reading!!

5. I had to return a bracelet to J Crew at Christmas so I had a store credit... I got this bracelet instead.  Not only do I love it, when she rang it up it was marked down from $45 to $24.99!!  Win-Win!

8. I LOVE this artist on etsy: Retro Whale.  I've been stalking the shop for a while trying to decide which piece I want in my home... actually I'm not sure I can narrow it down to just 1.

 I had the  BEST Bloody Mary ever and...this pork BBQ wrap with Jalapeno coleslaw that I'm still paying for, man, was it GOOD and I can't wait to eat it again!

On Saturday, the Mister told me to come outside and see what was movin' through our yard

I thought it was a snake at first, he had his neck out so far!  He wasn't so friendly when I got closer!

When we were in line to buy the tickets the Mister said "what is this movie about?" and I said "I have no idea, I just liked the poster." (yes, i do judge a book by the cover) Plus it was a 2011 Sundance Film Festival selection and I'm a big fan of those indie films.  When we got inside there were only 2 other people in the theater and then, they started rolling in... they came by orthopedic shoes, walkers, and motorized scooters.  the Mister and I just sat there with our mouths open as they came in at a snails pace, all of them over the age of 75!  We looked at each other and just started laughing and he asked me again "what is this movie about?".  We thought perhaps there were going to be prune juice shooters or secret codes for restaurant discounts given out.  It was just weird.  Finally, a family with 2 teen age girls came in, but besides the girls and us, everyone had silver hair and an AARP card!  The movie was really cute and moving and I still have no idea why it attracted so many Seniors.  The downfall to the Seniors being there...they whisper loud, really, really LOUD!
