10 Random Things Friday...

Welcome Friday!!

Let's see how far I get with 10 Random things...I'm suppose to be packing! Today is going to be 10 crafty things (I think...) because yesterday I went shoppin!

1. this room is boring...

but it's getting BETTER!!  1st it got a new lamp

and then I've got to get on refinishing the top of my Grandma's end table, well, it WAS my Grandma's, now it's mine!

2. Speaking of my Grandma, she is 101!  This is last July right after her birthday.  Please excuse my hair..

3. These are the fabrics I found to make my fabric bunting for our bedroom...

4. Have some ideas up my sleeve for this...

I bought the book... I've got high hopes. LuLu says I can do it, and if LuLu says it, I believe it!!

6. Remember I had this grand idea for my lower lever?

Well, I took step #1 yesterday and bought these 2 fabrics to make pillows...

the corduroy looks black in this top photo...but it's NOT, it's this gorgeous charcoal color

Now if I can just find that turquoise velvet couch... I did check craig's list, but let's be honest that site just freaks me out...

I bought this for myself for Valentines Day, just in case the Mister forgot and it was gone when (and IF) he went back to get it.

8. I made these yesterday with some fabric that was cute but there was no way I was ever going to use it to make something...or so I thought!

9. Also got these pictures frames from Target yesterday, I'll be repainting and re purposing them!  Yesterday at Target was the $2.48 day (also got Darling 2 shirts and 2 pair of pants for less than $3 each!)

10. The Mister is here, who is he to think he can come in and start barking at me?  AM I PACKED? Heck no, I have time.  It's 11:17 am, I have a Valentines Day party with Darling at 2 and we're leaving for a ski weekend at 3.  I've already: got Darling to school, cleaned up the kitchen, started a load of laundry, dusted the house, run 2.5 miles, taken all these pictures and am in the midst of blogging them.  Those Type A's.... geesh, all uptight and scared of us fly-by-the-seat-of-our-pants procrastinators! Hee, Hee!!

Easy Paper Valentine Cake Bunting!

Oh, I'm running late today, I was shopping ALL day, more on that later...

Here is a cute little DIY if you plan on baking for Valentine's Day.  You can make this cute little bunting  from junk you may already have in your craft room or kitchen.

1. Grab some bamboo skiers

 2. strips of paper cut into 2"X3" strips, glue gun,  and some stamps or stickers or valentine doo-dads.

3. find the middle and draw a line to the corners and cut the little flags out

 4. Stamp or use stickers to add "LOVE" or anything else you want to say... Add ribbons, flowers, rhinestones, glitter... you get the picture!

 5.  Put a thick line of glue down the edge and stick it onto your little decorated flag

6. Now stick them in your cupcakes or across the top of a cake

(or some oranges)

After I made these I made a little clothes line bunting...

I've seen something like these etsy, cute, hun?

For these I just folded some scrap paper over and eyeballed it...

This is Martha Stewart Baker's String... Hey Martha, why do you have to make it so hard to find the beginning of the string?  Anyone else ever use this?

Tie the string to each stick and hang the flags on... You could put a touch of glue, but I was finishing these 4 min. before I had to go get my cute little science nerd from science club!

Excuse my weird yellow wall...I hope to get rid of that soon...very soon!!

Redecorating my Home...

Makes me a little PSYCHO!  Do you do this: Pick out colors, styles, or maybe even furniture then change your mind?!  No matter what I do, no matter what I pick out, the moment I do... I find something I like BETTER!  I will say, I am still in love with my kitchen and am waiting for the day The Mister gets the edge of the counters done, the trim back up and the grout put in the back splash, but... I still LOVE the colors I picked and the tile and the granite.

Now if I can just get those stainless appliances!!!

I'm still on the fence with my great room... I now realize until I get new furniture there is NO way I'm picking a paint color until I do.  There is no cut off, so once I pick a color it is the ENTIRE: kitchen, dining and living area.

I thought I had my lower level all figured out then I found this...

Now I just need to find a turquoise velvet couch.... It's funny because I've been collecting picture frames in that purply pink color... I knew I was on to something!

I re-did our bedroom last year and I still like that but realized it needed "more". The walls are WAY too bare and it needs more "hand made" touches!  It's just too serious and plain right now...

I really like the orange with the black and blue...So,

 I'm going to add some more orange to our room, I think that will help.  Do you remember those sweater covered pillows from brassyapple.blogspot??

I found the perfect orange sweater to make one for our room! Let me give ya a little HINT about buying thrifted sweaters... SNIFF THE PITTS!!  I bought 2 sweaters, 1 stunk SOOOOOOOOOO bad I had to pitch it!  After you wash them and run them through the dryer if they're stanky... the stink will come rollin off the pits when the dryer steams them- SO GROSS!

I definitely am drawn to a more whimsical colorful style, but right now my house doesn't really show that.  
I AM making this bunting and hanging it across my living room...

10 Random Things Friday...

1. You know I love Twinkie Chan and all her crochet goodness... I especially LOVE her Coffee-Cup-Cozy's, seriously so much better than cardboard!!

3. Speaking of "orchid".  Favorite flowers ever!

I've owned several, I can never get them to bloom again.  Yet another reason I should move to Maui!

4. At Christmas I found these amazing chairs at TJ Maxx, they were light orchid and taupe (I know, that's gray, but my blogger has no "taupe" and it was a gray/brown).  I, of course, wanted to wait until after Christmas for them to be marked down.  Who else wants orchid and taupe chairs, right?  I re-decorated my WHOLE house around these chairs...in my  head. 2 weeks ago Friday I had this BAD feeling I better go to TJ Maxx ASAP... The Mister took me on Saturday, they were gone. Lesson learned: IF you see something you MUST have at TJ Maxx- do NOT wait for the markdown!!

If you have these chairs, I WANT them and it IS my birthday month...

I've obsessively done on-line searches...I can't find them.

5. The Super Bowl-I hear it's coming soon?!  I don't watch football, I don't like it.  I have NO idea what a "terrible towel" is (a terrible bowel, yes- but that is a whole other story).  A terrible towel to me is one of those cheap scratchy ones from Kmart.  No, I don't care about the commercials.  I DVR stuff to avoid the commercials... BUT,  I am up for the guacamole dip!

8. I just bought this run for my laundry room.  

I got it at TARGET! It's flammable, don't smoke on it!

My laundry room is painted Chocolate Brown, I just need to paint my laundry room cabinets "Dragonfly" like we did in my kitchen.  Doesn't that sound fun? ugh!

9. I'm reading Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil

i like it!  It was $3.99 at a local Bargain Book store!

10.  This one is sad... Do you know of Kayla Aimee?  She had a VERY VERY tiny (1lb 9oz) preemie daughter on Nov 7th. Please consider praying for this family and leaving a kind comment on her blog.  My heart hurts for her!  I hate to end on such a sad note, but make her heart feel better by letting her know we're all pulling for her precious, precious daughter: Scarlette.
