Plaster Disaster and other interior design mistakes...

So, you all (or "Y'all" for my friends down south) are aware of the mess I've made of our front entry!  First I painted it a yellow that would peel the skin off your eyelids, then tried to cover it with a layer of venetian plaster then looked like a bad 90's sponge paint... Oh the horror!  Thankfully I can't get our front door open so everyone comes through the garage.  Anyway, I was debating sanding the 1st layer of plaster off when the Mister shook me violently (just kidding) and told me there was NO way I'd ever get that wall smooth and that I should put the next 2 layers of plaster on and SHUT IT!  I spent the last 2 days leisurely slappin another layer of plaster on the walls.  I'll say this: IF I had the option of redoing this, I wouldn't, BUT... it does look better with another layer!  The splotchy yellow is gone, wish this mess was!
Of course, I ran out of plaster, so now we must invest another $40 in a bucket of crap we aren't thrilled with...
I also spent the day cleaning this giant bowl chandelier (that I did not pick out), it's the perfect shape to catch dust and dead bugs!  Lovely!
Ahhhh, yes, there is a GREAT shot of the spongy looking plaster disaster!  The yellow looks very day-glo in the pictures, which it isn't, thankfully!!
In other news, I don't like my fireplace wall and will soon be repainting it a different color.... NO, I am not available for hire!!

Redecorating my Home...

Makes me a little PSYCHO!  Do you do this: Pick out colors, styles, or maybe even furniture then change your mind?!  No matter what I do, no matter what I pick out, the moment I do... I find something I like BETTER!  I will say, I am still in love with my kitchen and am waiting for the day The Mister gets the edge of the counters done, the trim back up and the grout put in the back splash, but... I still LOVE the colors I picked and the tile and the granite.
Now if I can just get those stainless appliances!!!
I'm still on the fence with my great room... I now realize until I get new furniture there is NO way I'm picking a paint color until I do.  There is no cut off, so once I pick a color it is the ENTIRE: kitchen, dining and living area.
I thought I had my lower level all figured out then I found this...
Now I just need to find a turquoise velvet couch.... It's funny because I've been collecting picture frames in that purply pink color... I knew I was on to something!
I re-did our bedroom last year and I still like that but realized it needed "more". The walls are WAY too bare and it needs more "hand made" touches!  It's just too serious and plain right now...

this is a silk painting I picked up in China...
I really like the orange with the black and blue...So,
I'm going to add some more orange to our room, I think that will help.  Do you remember those sweater covered pillows from brassyapple.blogspot??
I found the perfect orange sweater to make one for our room! Let me give ya a little HINT about buying thrifted sweaters... SNIFF THE PITTS!!  I bought 2 sweaters, 1 stunk SOOOOOOOOOO bad I had to pitch it!  After you wash them and run them through the dryer if they're stanky... the stink will come rollin off the pits when the dryer steams them- SO GROSS!

I really think my rooms needs this bed, find it here: attiladesign
~swoon~
I definitely am drawn to a more whimsical colorful style, but right now my house doesn't really show that.
I AM making this bunting and hanging it across my living room...
I am, I am, I am!

What style do you like?  Do you want to change 5 min. after you finish a room or do you never finish...
Ok, thanks for letting me rant a bit... I have a DIY ready for tomorrow, a little Valentine Cake Flag project...
Don't forget to go to yesterday's post to get in on the champagne soap give-away!

Halloween Bargains galore!!!

This room...
With this chair:

Oh boy, do i owe LuLu of Coastal Sisters a big shout out & thank YOU!!! This chair is in her front entry - she featured it on her blog with all her DARLING Halloween goodies. I left her a comment telling her I needed THAT chair! She was so sweet to let me know where it's from & the fact it was 1/2 OFF.... Clearance- i love that guy!!! So, if you know of anyone that needs a chair like this send them over to JC Penney online outlet store!! What good stuff!! The reviews on it were fabulous & if you've been over to LuLu's blog- you know what great taste that gal has! I never think to check JC Penney... guess it was just a place my grandparents always shopped, but this site has amazing stuff!!
I know Halloween is over, but isn't that the BEST time to find good stuff at great prices? Clearance strikes again!
I stopped at Michael's (craft store) yesterday & grabbed a bunch of goodies for next to nothing!
You can't really see it, but this tassel has clear crystal beads mixed in the fringe.
I was getting ready to tell you this was a deal except it only came with 1 "P"... then i noticed they were stuck together- ha! I think I'll add to this banner & make it more 3-D for next year!
I grabbed 2 of these guys:
This is another silver sparkly goodie that i think I'll add to... maybe a crepe paper collar or a hat?....
and then there's Bob... such a lazy fella!
Here he is riding away from the little dog that won't quit licking his foot...
Bob- don't you dare NOT replace the toilet paper roll!
I have a feeling Bob & I are going to have a lot of good times together this winter! He's the kind of guy you can really pour your heart out to!
Have a great day- I'm off to the treadmill. I would add "ug" to that, but I'm trying to do positive self talk "i love to run on the treadmill, it's so fun, I can't wait...." you know, crap like that.
Tomorrow: Good Stuff Friday & a review of my new glasses...

Get rid of that ugly shell magnet Grandma got you on her vacation to Florida & grab some of JooSweetie's magnets!!! too-too cute!
Of course my pick: the Chinese couple saying "hello" (it's pronounced knee how)

and her keyring fobs... the CUTEST! I have her Wonder Woman fob... LOVE IT!

http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5092400
here's the link to her shop or just head to etsy & search by seller, her store name is:
joosweetie
i just ordered one of her necklaces for myself last week... it's on it's way! I'll be sure to show it off when "she" arrives!
Oh... my dream last night: Katie Holmes-Cruise was breaking it off with Tom, but then Katie turned into my Grandma & she was leaving him too.... Isn't that cool? My 100 year old Grandma - Mrs. Tom Cruises!!!! Geesh, why didn't she just stick it out, i mean she is 100- how long would she have to suffer with his nutty science-whatever religion?!
I will be posting photo's of my new Master Bedroom soon, very soon! It went from tomato red to robin egg blue... it's dreamy! The mister is going to be shocked that i started & finished the project! I went at it like a crazy woman because i knew if i stopped for a second, I'd never finish! I HATE to paint except on a canvas! OH... did i mention the Mister is away on an Elk hunt & has no idea that I re-did the room? (JUST got an email from him- he got an elk & sounded SO excited! Hmmm... where's the head gonna go? My Mom would probably LOVE it for Christmas!! Shhh, don't tell her!). Although i finished the painting, I still want to put in a new light & get rid of the tacky ceiling fan, replace the ugly oak fold out closet doors & put in a new wall sconce... The Mister is going to have to put up all new trim when he gets home (SURPRISE!!) because me & a chop saw just don't mix!! Once that trim is up I'll take the pic's, it kinda looks like a pretty crack house with all the trim pulled off.
Happy Day- go shop etsy!! Christmas is coming!!

Caution: Interior Designer at WORK!!

Hey, the blog contest lasts till July 6th- you can vote 1 time EVERY day, so... get it on! Introduce your friends to my blog, get me to 1st place & win a PINK Kitchen Aide mixer!!

Just kidding, but that would be awesome, hun?

are you ready to choke me for begging for votes, do you wish i would burn the tips of my fingers off so i couldn't type a beg?

Ok, today i want to show you whats going on around here:This is our front entry- isn't it UGLY? The above picture was taken when the mister & i first started dating. I knew when i saw it, it would HAVE to be redone! Ha, i think the 1st time i ever walked into his house I was re-decorating it in my head! Actually, the 1st time i saw his home, I was surprised a single guy lived here- it was too "nice".

I've hated that wall color forever... dead grey-green, the color of a 3 day old corpse. I'm not usually a fan of the color yellow, but this entry needed to be YELLOW. It has that huge window, it's the front entry & it leads into the main part of our home. I picked a color from the Ralph Lauren collection, went to the store and picked...
the wrong one!
i went with the darker, more yellow one... i put it up & thought, i'm just going to live with it, i picked it, i painted & i'm going to make it work. or not...

here it is 1/2 way downYou can really tell in this next picture how YELLOW it is & yikes, when the sun comes up in the morning- grab your SPF 70!

Now i'm worrying, i've picked, i've painted, and i'm not thrilled...Ewww, ugly green, too bright yellow and, OAK! i HATE oak!

Saturday the Mister & i headed to get supplies to get this finished up. First stop: my favorite breakfast place! and that's when it happened, again...

i walked in & remembered this was the place that i was designing my home after! i LOVE the decor of this place! It has the colors i love and the style. The moment i walked in I could see the entire project finished: the fabrics, the colors, the doors, the trim, even the stairway! I got my design mo-jo BACK!

I can't wait for you to see what we've done!!!

Eclectic, cottage with artsy touches- that's what i'm going for! I've got to get the 1 wall with a 2nd coat & then add the... Venetian Plaster! We've got 1 side totally done, but i don't want to post pictures till it's complete.
In doggy news: Mr. Theodore Winston is now nut less... He's happy in his new PINK bed! We dropped him off yesterday morning, picked him up yesterday afternoon & he's a new boy... err.... dog, i guess! This puppy thing isn't for the faint of ♥. Only 2 pee-pee accidents & i'm going to make sure that's the last of it...
Have a great day!
