i finally was able to get my hands on 2 more vintage owl figurines. 2 very ugly brown owls from the 70's that were just begging me to coat them in several layers of glossy paint! so here, they are in all their repurposed glory

and for you "dog people" enjoy this lazy beast. he is on my "list" as he just had his 2nd run in with a skunk in less than a year! i have found the cure to the smell though: pour 1 giant bottle of hydrogene peroxide on him, then coat him in baking soda and let him baste for 10-15 min. i then gave him a bath with tea tree oil shampoo and he's back to his regular smelly doggy scent!

5. another box FULL of hats came in last night (for the kids in China-see the tab at the top for ALL the info!). i would love to show you, but i am having major problems with my iphoto. no matter what i do, i can not get my photo's to download from the CF card... they did yesterday from 1 camera but not the other. today, no photo's will download...Grrr!!

1. i am off to the mall to pick up my packet for the Koman Race for the Cure. 5k tomorrow morning at 8:30. i love to run these races. what's not to love about waking up at 6 on a saturday, eating a power bar, having the nervous poops, worrying about having to pee (just a little bit) while you run, and race t-shirts!

2. We are 5 days into Summer Vacation- on Monday I ran around the lake with Darling riding her bike beside me (that was a challenge), Tuesday we drove into town so I could run on the trail while Darling rode her bike beside me (that was still a challenge but without the cars driving by), Wednesday we went to a friends and yesterday we shopped all day.
5. I have a problem, actually 2... first: I have a embroidery/sewing machine that cost as much as a small KIA car, second: I THINK I can sew, I can't and yet... I bought this book yesterday.
6. If I hear the theme song to Phineas and Ferb one more time, I might drink bleach!
7. Squinkies are taking over my home. No, this isn't all of them...
8. Apparently "Color Changing" fingernail polish is "very drippy", so drippy in fact, that as soon as your 7 year old opens it, she'll drip the turquoise goodness on your (soon-to-be-replaced) carpet- She got lucky, this time!!
9. My BEST summer find (so far): $1 ELF lip gloss!! Found these at Target and for $1 each, they're perfect to throw in your purse, glove box, bathroom, pockets, and junk drawers!! I lose lip gloss like crazy, I just don't feel as bad when they're only $1, plus I don't lose $1 lip gloss, I lose the $10 ones!
10. Even though it's heating up outside, don't forget about my 2nd Annual Hat drive for the kids in China!! Please see the above tab for ALL the information. But... I'm taking hats now and will until mid Sept. The one change I'm making this year: I'm asking that you send .50-$1 per hat to help offset the shipping to China! BUT: if you CAN'T send the $ still send the hat!!! or if you can't send a hat, feel free to send the $- we're easy around here!!

1. Now that I stay home I HATE getting ready in the morning...Ready for WHAT? The dog? Sometimes part way through getting ready I just quit....
but at least I topped off my outfit with the polka dot socks :)
I love to get ready to go out, but to stay in...it's just too much work! Anyone else feel this way?
2. I've been having LOTS of knee issues suddenly. People kept telling me to get my shoes checked, I found it hard to imagine that shoes could make THAT much of a difference. Let me just say I'M A BELIEVER!! New shoes have changed my life after only 1 run in them!! Sadly they aren't pink, but you know I love some turquoise, so I'm good (and so are my knees!!!). They told me all kinds of stuff I didn't know like: buy running shoes 1/2 size bigger than what size you really are. Supporting the locally owned store and spending a little extra $$....SO worth it!! Gazelle's in Grand Rapids, MI has my loyal business for as long as I can run! These are Mizuno in case you're interested!

5. My new breakfast food: If you like real earthy, nutty, healthy foods, this is for you! I sprinkle it with a TINY bit of truvia (a natural sweetener, not a fake sugar substitute-those scare me!) and cut a banana into it- YUM!

2. I have a problem... I'm in love with a Porkie.
I usually don't order food with embarrassing names, for example:

What self respecting woman can say "I'd like the BIG Wally"?... I mean, not a nice girl like me anyway!

This Porkie from Logan's has got me all turned upside down. My love of the Porkie is something new to me... 1st up: the name, 2nd up: it's Pork, thirdly: the fact that I do NOT use love and food in the same sentence...ever! You get 3 of these little sandwiches, 3 little rolls filled with porky goodness. Pulled BBQ pork, a pickle slice and a plop of coleslaw on a sweet little roll... And to tell the whole story, I must add the fact that EVERY time I eat these I am an IBS-Mess... They tear me UP! I won't let myself believe that a bit of pork, a pickle and some slaw can do this to me, I won't ALLOW it, so I will continue to oink, oink out on them every single time I go to Logan's!!

4. Ever wonder where mean blog comments go? I mean, they certainly do NOT go to Heaven! Well, I have the answer, I found out where they end up and you need to go there and get your LOLing on! my favorite hate mail Have you ever had mean comments on your blog? I feel lucky that I never have (now, please don't leave me one just so I don't feel left out!), and am constantly amazed at how MEAN some people can be. Why can't we all just get along?? The t-shirt is true: mean people suck!
5. When I mentioned to Darling this morning that some people were up at 4 AM to watch the Royal Wedding, she said:
"Why? It's just 1 little thing that's happening in the World!" I wrote it down so I can add it to her book that I keep. That girl is NOT easy to impress.
6. Yesterday was the first time I've run in 2 weeks thanks to my rotten IT band that is giving me fits.
I felt fine while I ran, but later was limping around like a 90 year old! You know the Bejamin Franklin quote "Wine is constant proof that God loves us and loves to see us happy"? My friend Chris would like to add this quote "Pain is constant proof that God loves us and does not want us to exercise". I'm a little worried about the 10K I am suppose to run in on May 14th...we'll see!

10. I have such a heart for adoption. I always knew I wanted to adopt and have been beyond blessed by this choice. Even though she's going to kill us with future dental bills and eyebrow waxing!! Oh, she would die if she knew I just said that, don't tell her- OK?!
I just heard about this group this morning on the radio and encourage everyone to check it out. There are over 4,000 kids in my state alone waiting for adoption... 4,000!!!!! Can you imagine the impact we could make on this number if more people would see adoption as an option? International, domestic, babies, toddlers, and teens, they all need a family!!
